Lisa Michelle Rooper, M.D.
Assistant of Pathology
Dr. Lisa Rooper is a surgical pathologist with a special interest in head and neck and endocrine pathology. She received her BS in Communication summa cum laude at Northwestern University, followed by her MD with honors at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, and completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Within the fields of head and neck and endocrine pathology, Dr. Rooper’s research focuses on developing immunohistochemical and molecular assays for better diagnosis and prognostication of salivary, squamous, sinonasal, and neuroendocrine tumors. More generally, she is also interested in creating and evaluating systems for quality assurance and cost containment in anatomic pathology, and using new technologies to improve pathology education.
During her training, Dr. Rooper authored numerous articles and book chapters. She also is the recipient of the First Resident Research Award (2013) from the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology, the Vincent Hyams award (2015) and Leon Barnes (2016) awards from the North American Society of Head and Neck Pathology, the Outstanding Abstract Award (2015 and 2016) at the Hopkins Pathology Young Investigators' Day, and the Pathology Housestaff Resident Teaching Award (2016).
