A. Reema Kar is a burn, trauma and acute care surgeon practicing at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Dr. Kar comes to Johns Hopkins after dual fellowship training in surgical critical care at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, and burn care and rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins Burn Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Kar is certified in advanced trauma life support and advanced burn life support.
Among her passions are global health, international surgical care, and public education on burn and trauma prevention. She has been involved in anti-violence and trauma prevention outreach programs for at-risk youth. She has also participated in medical missions to Uganda, India and the Dominican Republic, providing multiple services, from health education to surgical procedures.
Her research interests include burn resuscitation, trauma outcomes, and recovery from critical illness.
