Background

Dr. Robert Hardi is a gastroenterologist and internist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, as well as an associate clinical professor of medicine at George Washington University and an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Georgetown University. Dr. Hardi is also the medical director of the Chevy Chase Clinical Research for the Metropolitan Gastroenterology Group division of Capital Digestive Care and a certified physician investigator. He is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Dr. Hardi practices out of Capital Digestive Care’s Metropolitan Gastroenterology Group in Bethesda, Md., Chevy Chase, Md. and Washington, D.C. He is affiliated with George Washington University Hospital, Washington Hospital Center and University of Maryland - Baltimore Washington Medical Center as well. 

Dr. Hardi has an expertise in inflammatory bowel diseases, clinical research, procedural sedation, colon cancer surveillance and pancreatic and biliary disorders. 

Dr. Hardi earned his medical degree from Semmelweis Medical University. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, as well as a fellowship in hematology and oncology. Dr. Hardi also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at New York Hospital. 

Dr. Hardi has been repeatedly named a Top MD in Washingtonian Magazine. He has served on the National Board of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and is a fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association. Dr. Hardi is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology. 

Dr. Hardi has contributed to numerous clinical trials, publications and presentations.
