Dr. Laurence B. Balter is an infectious disease specialist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, Suburban Hospital and Georgetown University Hospital, where he is a faculty member at the School of Medicine. Dr. Balter is certified in infectious disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He practices out of Kane and Davis Associates in Bethesda, Md.
Dr. Balter provides treatment for a variety of infectious diseases, such as infections of the bone and joint, prosthetic infections, mycobacterial infections, antimicrobial-resistant bacteria, surgical site infections and infections occurring in immunocompromised patients. He also offers vaccines and travel immunizations.
Dr. Balter earned his medical degree from New York University Langone Medical Center. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester, as well as a fellowship in infectious diseases.
Dr. Balter is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
