Dr. Gaurav Bandi is a urologist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital and Georgetown University Hospital, where he is an associate professor in the Department of Urology. Dr. Bandi is certified in urology by the American Board of Urology. He practices out of Georgetown Urology Associates in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Bandi has an expertise in minimally invasive urologic oncology, including nerve sparing radical prostatectomy, robotic radical cystectomy, robotic partial nephrectomy, cryoablation for kidney and prostate cancer, active surveillance of prostate cancer and management of post-prostatectomy impotence and incontinence. He is one of the few urologists in the area who has expertise in management of severe impotence and incontinence using prosthetic devices such as penile implants, urinary sphincters and slings. Dr. Bandi also performs complex reconstructive procedures for management of Peyronie's disease and urethral stricture, as well as comprehensive care for patients with enlarged prostate. He is the only physician in the region to be specially trained in holmium laser enucleation of prostate HOLEP for enlarged prostate.
Dr. Bandi earned his medical degree from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital. He completed an internship and a residency in urology at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by a minimally invasive urology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. Dr. Bandi previously served as an assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Bandi is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a member of the American Urological Association and Endourologic Society.
Dr. Bandi has received the 3rd prize in Endourology Essay contest, the Pfizer Fellow in Urology and the American Urological Association Gerald P. Murphy Scholar for Prostate Cancer.
Dr. Bandi has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed articles in various medical journals.
