Dr. Alison J. Garten is a podiatrist affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital. Dr. Garten is certified in podiatric surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, as well as a certified pedorthist by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics. She practices out of Foot and Ankle Specialists of the Mid-Atlantic in Chevy Chase, Md.
Dr. Garten earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. She completed a residency in plastic surgery at Montgomery Hospital Medical Center, followed by a residency in podiatric surgery at Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Garten has trained in foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, diabetic limb salvage, elective forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction and management of in-house patients with vast medical issues.
Dr. Garten is a member of the District of Columbia Board of Podiatry, as well as co-vice president of the American Association for Women Podiatrists.
Dr. Garten has presented nationally on topics related to the foot and ankle, as well as venous and diabetic wounds. She has been quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post and Washington Express. Dr. Garten writes a diabetic foot blog for Podiatric Today Magazine.
