Dr. Shah is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He specializes in both medical and surgical diseases of the retina and is an expert in heredity (genetic) and acquired retinal diseases. His research interests are focused developing new and novel treatments for genetic retinal diseases including the use of gene therapy. Dr. Shah other research interests include genetic epidemiology, bioinformatics and genotype-phenotype variations in heredity and acquired retinal degenerations, including Stargardt disease, retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt disease and macular degeneration.

He received his medical degree from The Aga Khan University in Pakistan and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Flaum Eye Institute, University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. He completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship, retinal degenerations and visual neurophysilogy training at the Wilmer Eye Institute prior to joining the faculty. more
