Biography

Dr. Christine Gourin helps patients with tumors of the oral cavity, larynx, oropharynx, neck, skull base, and salivary glands. She also treats patients with thyroid cancer, premalignant conditions of the upper aerodigestive tract, and unknown primary head and neck primary squamous cell carcinoma, sinus, and nasal cavity tumors. She also provides surgical solutions for patients with sleep apnea and snoring.

Dr. Christine Gourin received her medical degree from the State University of New York-Health Science Center at Brooklyn/ Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Gourin trained in General Surgery and Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Vermont, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

    Dr. Christine Gourin has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed journal articles, 20 book chapters and 2 books: Medical and Surgical Management of Thyroid and Parathyroid Diseases and The Johns Hopkins Patient Guide to Head and Neck Cancer, and is a section editor for the 5th edition of the textbook, Head and Neck Surgery-Otolaryngology. She is on the Editorial Board of The Laryngoscope and The Journal of Clinical Oncology and Oral Oncology and is a reviewer for numerous other head and neck surgery journals. Her research interests focus on quality of life, functional outcomes, and survival following treatment for head and neck cancer, and quality of care, safety, and decision making in head and neck cancer.
