Research & Publications
Dr. Vang’s research interests include clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical studies of ovarian tumors, particularly epithelial and sex cord-stromal types. Currently, he is in the process of investigating serous borderline tumors of the ovary (atypical proliferative serous tumor and non-invasive low-grade [micropapillary] serous carcinoma) using a large population-based cohort from Denmark. This has been an on-going project for over 10 years. Some of the clinical and epidemiologic studies from this cohort are now published, and the corresponding pathology and molecular studies are currently in progress. It is hoped that they will clarify the behavior of serous borderline tumors (especially the micropapillary types) and tumors with extra-ovarian implants. Other research interests have included serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma of the fallopian tube and metastatic carcinomas involving the ovary. Lastly, a book on differential diagnosis in gynecologic pathology is presently in preparation.
