As one of the directors of the Austere Anesthesia Health Outcomes Research Group, Dr. Lee researches the practice of and opportunities for improving palliative medicine among pediatric patients in Ethiopia.

He is also working with Drs. Eric Jackson and John Sampson to study the introduction of a universal anesthesia machine (UAM) that is designed for use in austere environments.
