Research & Publications
As one of the directors of the Austere Anesthesia Health Outcomes Research Group, Dr. Lee researches the practice of and opportunities for improving palliative medicine among pediatric patients in Ethiopia.
He is also working with Drs. Eric Jackson and John Sampson to study the introduction of a universal anesthesia machine (UAM) that is designed for use in austere environments. The anesthesiology and critical care medicine team has a two-year grant from the Nick Simons Foundation to create an educational curriculum around the use and introduction of the UAM; deliver the equipment and first training sessions onsite in Sierra Leone; study the proliferation of the use of the equipment by the in-country trainers; and monitor the effects remotely.
