Dr. Danny Song is an associate professor of urology, oncology, and radiation oncology and molecular radiation sciences at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He serves as the co-director of the Prostate Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include bladder cancer, lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, prostate brachytherapy and prostate cancer.

Dr. Song’s clinical activities involve treating patients with cancers of the genitourinary tract (prostate, bladder and testicular cancers) and cancers of the lung, for which he uses external beam, brachytherapy and stereotactic body radiation therapy to deliver therapeutic radiation.

Dr. Song received his B.A. from Southern Adventist University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He earned his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Song’s research interests include the development and refinement of new imaging methods to improve radiation targeting, as well as innovative means of delivering higher doses of radiation.

Dr. Song received the Teacher of the Year award by the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology and was named one of the “Best Pediatric Doctors in Richmond” by Richmond magazine.

    Research Summary

    Dr. Song’s research focuses on developing an improved seed visualization method for prostate brachytherapy. His research is currently funded by the National Cancer Institute, and he is working in collaboration with scientists from the Johns Hopkins Engineering Research Center.
