Research Summary

Dr. Thio has several research interests. Her laboratory is focused on hepatitis B translational science that is working towards a hepatitis B cure including HBV virology in single hepatocytes, immune response to acute hepatitis B, and neutralizing antibodies to hepatitis B.

Her laboratory also investigates the human genetic determinants of HBV and HCV clearance, where she examines polymorphisms in human genes in persons that have either recovered from or have a persistent viral hepatitis infection.

Her laboratory also studies fatty liver in people with HIV and HIV-hepatitis co-infection.
