Background

Douglas Gladstone, M.D., is a hematologist and medical oncologist at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, and an Associate Professor of Oncology and Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree in 1992 from the New York University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, in 1995, and became chief resident at the University of Rochester from 1995 to 1996.  Dr. Gladstone completed his fellowship in oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1996.

Dr. Gladstone joined the Kimmel Cancer Center in 2008 and his clinical focus is on hematologic malignancies, bone marrow transplantation (BMT), and autoimmunity. He directs the Kimmel Cancer Center's Inpatient/Outpatient (IPOP) service, which provides outpatient support for bone marrow transplant patients. 

An active researcher, Dr. Gladstone serves as principal investigator on a number of clinical trials in the treatment of  chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and relapsed lymphomas, as well as anti-PD-1 immunotherapy treatments for patients with hematologic malignancies.  

His work has resulted in multiple publications in the scientific literature, presentations at national meetings, and numerous awards and recognitions.  In 2005 and 2006, he received the Certificate of Appreciation for Excellence in Training Resident Physicians at Stony University Medical Center and the 2011 Director Teaching Award in Clinical Science at The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Gladstone also holds active professional memberships with the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Hematology.
