Background

Dr. Saini joined faculty of the Division of Allergy & Clinical Immunology immediately following his fellowship in 1997. He has served as the principal investigator and co-investigator for basic and translational studies examining the role of IgE receptor expression and activation in allergic airways disease, anaphylaxis, and chronic urticaria. His research has been supported by the NIH, American Lung Association, and the AAAAI. He is the Program Director for our allergy and immunology fellowship program since 2008.

Research Summary

My research has focused on the IgE receptor activation of human basophils and mast cells. My early work focused on the mechanisms of IgE receptor regulation and I have led several translational studies in allergic subjects to better understand the role of allergen specific IgE. My recent studies focus on the mechanisms underlying chronic urticaria, where we found altered IgE-receptor signaling related to the phenotype of mast cells and basophils.
