Biography

Dr. Karen Horton is the Executive Vice Chair and a Professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Radiology and Radiological Science. Her areas of clinical expertise include general and diagnostic radiology.

Dr. Karen Horton was the Vice Chair of Operations in 2014 as well as the Director of Imaging at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center 2013-2014. Dr. Horton was the Radiology Residency Director 2009-2014.

Dr. Horton received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in body imaging at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1998.

Her research interests include the use of 3-D computed tomography (CT) imaging, particularly for imaging the pancreas and pancreatic tumors.
