As Principal Investigator on a recently completed CDC funded cooperative agreement to conduct research studies evaluating demonstration projects on feasibility of STD treatment and HIV prevention, Dr. Rompalo developed liaisons with several community-based centers and outreach programs to offer STD/HIV counseling and testing to many at-risk populations within Baltimore, including street youth, commercial sex workers, young injection drug users, and community-based walk-in clinics. As director of the Region III STD/HIV Prevention Training Center for the past 10 years, Dr. Rompalo has developed and conducted many STD/HIV educational programs with the Baltimore City School-based Nurses Program, Baltimore City and County’s Maternal and Child Health Program, as well as several community-based organizations and Baltimore City Health Department community intervention projects.
