Biography

Dr. Michael Boyle is an associate professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include adult cystic fibrosis, lung transplantation and pulmonary diseases.

Dr. Boyle serves as the director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program at the Johns Hopkins Cystic Fibrosis Center.

He earned his M.D. from Johns Hopkins. He completed his residency and performed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins.

His research is focused on clinical trials for the development of new cystic fibrosis therapies.

Dr. Boyle is currently the vice chair of the CF Foundation’s National CF Therapeutic Development Network and is principal investigator for the International Clinical Trials of VX-809 in F508del homoygotes. He has previously served as chairman of the CF Foundation’s Patient and Family Education Committee and the CF Foundation’s Adult CF Program National Quality Improvement Project. Research Summary

Dr. Boyle’s research is focused on clinical trials for the development of new cystic fibrosis therapies. He is studying modifier genes and cystic fibrosis lung disease, infection control, and cystic fibrosis and bone health.

He recently helped co-author a paper that described a proof-of-concept study in mice whereby the researchers used nanoparticle technology as an inhaled vehicle to deliver targeted therapeutic genes for people with life-threatening lung disorders.
