Biography

Dr. Allan Belzberg serves as Director of the Peripheral Nerve Center. His specialties include the surgical repair of injured nerves, removal of nerve tumors and decompression of nerve entrapments. Dr. Belzberg also focuses on spinal surgery, including the surgical management of degenerative spine problems, tumors and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Dr. Belzberg has additional expertise in treating most intracranial problems, including brain tumors.

Dr. Belzberg currently sees patients at The Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center located in Baltimore on Wednesdays and the Green Spring Station location on Fridays.

    Schwannoma Tumor, Roderick Ball's Story

    Diagnosed with a schwannoma tumor (schwannomatosis), Roderick Ball, Jr., and his family came to Johns Hopkins to have the tumor - which had grown through his abdomen, lower back and spinal column - treated. Treatment involved multiple surgeries with the goal of reducing the tumor, while preserving Rod's functions. His treatment and care was provided by neurosurgeon Allan Belzberg, MD, and a team physicians, therapists and nurses in neurosurgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, general surgery, pain management and specialists from the Kennedy Krieger Institute.
