He looks beyond the problem at hand (chief complaint) and examines the larger context of that problem, seeing you as a whole patient. This is the best practice of medicine, but rarely seen anymore. (The patient is a [ ], with several complicated medical problems, so understands the importance of considering the whole patient. It has been rare to find such a physician as Dr Blumenthal in my personal clinical experience.)
