Onyi's Interests

Onyi

Onyi is a 4th year medical student taking a year off to obtain an MPH degree in the School of Public Health. Her interests are in the area of the management of acute health conditions in vulnerable populations especially with the anticipated epidemiological transition from infectious disease to chronic disease in most developing countries. In other words, in addition to acute care management, her interests also involve the area of international health. Her current research interest is in the area of predicting prognostic factors with regards to mortality and morbidity in patients with ARDS/ALI and hopefully developing a simple, practical, and sensitive tool to predict these outcomes in order to enable patients' families make informed health decisions. She is currently working with Dr. Peter Pronovost in the department of Anesthesiology who is her mentor and advisor.
