Dr. Jan Turner Elected to Council on Academic Accreditation

Dr. Jan Turner has been elected Chair of the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA), a committee affiliated with the Ameerican Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).  This committee has oversight of  all of the academic programs in the US that train speech-language pathologists and audiologists. The committee establishes and maintains standards for the training programs and evaluates programs’ ability to meet the standards, so that they can be credentialed.  They train professionals who conduct periodic site visits of programs and develop materials to assist academic programs in getting and maintaining credentialing.  The Chair maintains liaisons with the ASHA Board of Directors and other national committees.  The election involves a two-year commitment: assuming the Chair-Elect position starting this January and then becoming Chair the following year.

Dr. Turner is Director of Speech-Language Pathology at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and an Assistant Professor in the Johns Hopkins Department of Physical medicine and Rehabilitation.
