Dr. Pablo Celnik, interim director of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is an associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, and neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Celnik has clinical expertise in neurologic rehabilitation, particularly with stroke and traumatic brain injury.

He serves as vice chair for research in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, medical director of the Outpatient NeuroRehabilitation Program, and director of the Human Brain Physiology and Stimulation Laboratory at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Celnik has performed groundbreaking research in transcranial magnetic stimulation to modulate electrical activity in focal brain areas and has published widely on novel interventions to stimulate the brain noninvasively.

Throughout his career, Dr. Celnik has received numerous venerable awards. These include the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers in 2010, the U.S. government’s highest honor for outstanding scientists and engineers beginning their independent careers, and the 2010 Outstanding Neurorehabilitation Clinician-Scientist Award from the American Society of Neurorehabilitation. He was also honored with the Clinician Scientist Career Development Award from The Johns Hopkins University and the 2007 Young Academician Award from the Association of Academic Physiatrists.
