 Victoria Brown, Pharm.D.

Brown

Dr. Brown is originally from Mayfield Heights, Ohio. She holds both a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from The Ohio State University. Her professional interests include oncology, health literacy and academia. Following completion of her pharmacy practice residency, she plans to pursue a specialty residency in oncology. Dr. Brown’s residency project evaluates the health literacy of patients taking high risk medications in order to identify them for pharmacist-provided counseling. On Saturdays in the fall, she can be found cheering on the Buckeyes in Columbus and on the road. Dr. Brown would like to extend her sincere gratitude to her husband, immediate family, mentors and friends who have provided immense support thus far in her career.

 John Hammer, Pharm.D., MBA

Hammer

Dr. John Hammer is from Charlotte, North Carolina. He received his Masters of Business Administration in 2008 from Wingate University and his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Wingate University in 2009. His professional interests include critical care, cardiology, and leadership with the profession of pharmacy. Dr. Hammer’s research project involves evaluating the use of enoxaparin in patients with renal impairment. Upon completion of his pharmacy practice residency, Dr. Hammer plans to pursue a specialty residency focusing in critical care. His long term goals are to become a clinical specialist at an academic medical center providing the opportunity to precept pharmacy students and residents and serve as an adjunct faculty at a school of pharmacy. In his spare time Dr. Hammer enjoys running, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with friends. Dr. Hammer would like to thank his family, mentors, and friends for their continued support and encouragement.

Hammer

Dr. Johnson is from Columbia, South Carolina. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in May 2009. Her professional interests include critical care, infectious disease and academia. Following completion of her pharmacy practice residency, she plans to pursue a specialty residency in critical care. Her current residency research project is evaluating the use of anticoagulation in neurosurgery patients. In her spare time she enjoys community service, watching movies, shopping, playing with her dog, and spending time with family and friends.

Raub

Dr. Joshua Raub comes to Baltimore from Detroit, MI. He completed his undergraduate studies and earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Wayne State University in May of 2009 where he served as his pharmacy class president from 2005-2009. His professional interests include critical care, emergency medicine, academia, and leadership within the pharmacy profession. Dr. Raub is co-creator of The Keys to Successful Mentorship, which is the first student lead mentorship program of a pharmacy school. Dr. Raub’s residency project involves assessing the antibiotic management of patients presenting with presumed sepsis to the Adult Emergency Department. Dr. Raub’s long term goals are to obtain a shared clinical specialist and faculty position at a teaching hospital and college of pharmacy where he can precept and teach future pharmacy students and residents. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, writing, swimming, cooking, and spending time with friends. Josh is extremely thankful for the continued support and encouragement from his family, Krystle, four brothers, his mentors, and friends.

 Elizabeth Sinclair, Pharm.D.

Sinclair

Dr. Elizabeth Sinclair is from Milbank, South Dakota. She graduated with a B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a B.A. in Spanish from South Dakota State University in 2007 and continued on to complete her Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2009. Dr. Sinclair enjoys working with children, and plans to complete a second year specialty residency in pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins Hospital next year. Her current research focuses on optimizing the dosing of busulfan for hematopoietic stem cell transplant preparatory regimens in pediatric patients by using pharmacokinetic modeling. In the future, Dr. Sinclair would like to work as a pediatric clinical specialist in an academic medical center where she would have to opportunity to precept and to teach pharmacy students and residents. Outside the hospital, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, especially to Spanish speaking countries, spending time with family and friends, reading, cooking, gymnastics, and, of course, sharing interesting facts about her native land while telling others how proud she is to be a South Dakotan. Elizabeth is very thankful for the love and support of her family and friends, both at home and in Baltimore. She especially thanks her parents, Paul and Jeanne, and her twin sister Stephanie. She would also like to thank everyone at Hopkins for making her feel so welcome in her new home.

Wong

Dr. Frances L. Wong grew up in the sunny California and is a proud Bruin who graduated from University of California, Los Angeles in 2002 with a B.S. in General Chemistry and in 2003 with a Master’s Degree in Education. She spent three years shaping the minds of our future generation - teaching science and chemistry at an inner city high school in Los Angeles prior to moving 3000 miles away from home to pursue a career in pharmacy. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy along with her Master’s Degree in Public Health with concentration in public health practice and policy in 2009. Her professional interests include HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, pharmacy education, and public health policy. She plans to pursue a specialty residency in Infectious Diseases/HIV after completing her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency. Her research project is designed to examine the penicillin skin test. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she enjoys watching her favorite team playing basketball and football (go Bruins!), and spending time catching up with her family and friends. Dr. Wong is grateful for the continued support from her family, friends, mentors, preceptors, professors, and the patients she encountered for making a difference in her life.

Shafir

Dr. Shafir is originally from Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Temple University School of Pharmacy with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree in 2008. She completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and is currently the Ambulatory Care Specialty Resident. Dr. Shafir plans to pursue a career path in academia. Her current residency research project is evaluating venous thromboembolic events during hospitalization in patients that miss doses of pharmacologic venous thromboembolism prophylaxis. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Salonia is originally from the New Jersey Shore. She graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May of 2008. She completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and is currently the Critical Care Specialty Resident. Dr. Salonia’s professional interests include sedation in the critically ill patient and sepsis, as well as leadership within the pharmacy profession. Dr. Salonia plans to pursue a clinical specialist position in an intensive care unit at an academic medical institution. She would like to incorporate teaching pharmacy students and precepting residents into her career in addition to patient care. Dr. Salonia’s current research involves evaluating a revised sedation protocol in the medical intensive care unit. Jeanmarie is grateful to her family, friends, and mentors for their continued support.

 Lisa Cushinotto, Pharm.D.
Cushinotto

Dr. Cushinotto is originally from Folsom, New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Rutgers University and her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy in 2008. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Hackensack University Medical Center and is currently the PGY-2 Infectious Diseases Specialty Resident. Lisa’s professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, HIV/AIDS, MDR gram-negative infections, and infections in the immunocompromised host. Upon completion of the residency, Lisa plans on pursuing a position as an Infectious Diseases Clinical Specialist at an academic medical institution. Her current research involves evaluating the impact of antimicrobial stewardship interventions on prescriber practices for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia. In her free time, Lisa enjoys photography, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She would like to thank all of her family, friends, and mentors who have encouraged her along the way.

Elizabeth Fang, Pharm.D.
Fang
Dr. Fang is originally from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.  She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Northeastern University School of Pharmacy in Boston, Massachusetts, in May 2008.  Her professional interests include medication safety, pharmacy informatics, pediatrics, leadership, and critical care.  Dr. Fang was a recipient of the ASHP Student Leadership Award as well as the Eli Lilly Achievement Award.  Her current research involves the development and implementation of a system for capturing and analyzing errors in medication orders processed via prescriber order entry (POE).  Dr. Fang plans to pursue a medication safety specialty residency upon completion of her pharmacy practice residency.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, dance, and music.  Dr. Fang is grateful to her family, fiancée, friends, and mentors for their continued support.

 Steven Gilmore, Pharm.D.

Steven Gilmore

Dr. Steven Gilmore is from Graham, North Carolina.  He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2001.  In 2008, he completed his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy.  His professional interests include oncology and ambulatory care pharmacy, and he plans to pursue a specialty residency in oncology after completing his pharmacy practice residency.  His research project is designed to characterize the outpatient medications and the chronic medical conditions of cancer patients.  Dr. Gilmore enjoys going to baseball games, running, watching his favorite television shows and college basketball (Go Heels!), and spending time with friends or family.  His favorite foods are Eastern North Carolina style Barbeque, chicken biscuits from Bojangles with sweet ice tea, and whatever he cooks at home.

 Courtney Patterson, Pharm.D.

Patterson

Dr. Patterson hails from the city of the Sunshine State, Jacksonville, Florida. She is a proud rattler and received her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in May of 2008. Dr. Patterson completed a pharmacy practice residency at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia in 2009. She is passionate about improving the care of patients with cancer and is thus, completing a specialty residency in Oncology Pharmacy Practice at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Patterson’s research project involves characterizing the antimicrobial management of febrile neutropenic patients, status-post bone marrow transplant, in the non-institutionalized setting. Upon completion of her Oncology Pharmacy Practice residency, Dr. Patterson plans to pursuit an Oncology Clinical Specialist position at an academic medical institution and become an adjunct professor at a college of pharmacy. Dr. Patterson enjoys playing the piano, running, and engaging in aesthetic activities. Dr. Patterson is appreciative of her family’s indubitable support and is humbled by the gracious guidance of her mentors.

 Julie Waldfogel, Pharm.D.

Waldfogel

Dr. Waldfogel is originally from Palm Harbor, Florida and graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 2008. After pharmacy school, she pursued residency training and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System and is currently the PGY2 Specialty Resident in Pain Management and Palliative Care at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her professional interests include the management of malignant pain and chronic pain in older adults. Dr. Waldfogel’s residency project assesses the perceived barriers and educational needs in developing a pain management team comprised of nurses and pharmacists. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, baking, UF football and spending time with her friends and family. Go Gators!

 Min Kwon, Pharm.D.

 

Kwon

 Min Kwon is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy at Long Island University with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree in 2009. Min is completing her first year of a two-year Pharmacotherapy Residency Program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and her research project is focused on studying bivalirudin for the treatment of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. Her professional interests include internal medicine, outcomes research, critical care and pharmacy leadership. Min plans to pursue a career path in academia. In her spare time, she enjoys family time with her daughter and husband. Min is grateful for the continuous support from her family in all her academic endeavors.

 Jesica Mangun, Pharm.D.

Mangun

Originally from Staunton, VA, Jesica Mangun graduated from Mary Washington College in 2004 with a B.S. in Chemistry then earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy in 2008. She is now back on the east coast completing her second year of a two-year Pharmacotherapy Residency Program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her research project involves warfarin-related outcomes resultant from policy changes implemented to comply with the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goal 03.05.01 for anticoagulation, and her professional interests include internal medicine, outcomes research and pharmacy leadership. When not in the hospital, Jesica enjoys many outdoor activities, such as riding her horse, skiing, hiking and rafting, to name a few. She also takes great pleasure in anything related to food or wine. Jesica would like to extend her sincere gratitude to her family, friends and mentors for supporting her in all her academic and extracurricular endeavors.

Meghan Davlin, Pharm.D.

Dr. Meghan Davlin is from Sandusky, Ohio. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy with a Communication Arts Theater minor in May 2009. Dr. Davlin is in her first year of the two year Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency which includes the completion of a Masters of Business Administration in Medical Services Management at the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business. Dr. Davlin is passionate about improving patient care through effective management, and her professional interests include medication safety, operations management, ambulatory care, and leadership development. Her first year residency project focuses on creating a corporate communication strategy for dissemination of drug policy information in large academic medical centers. Dr. Davlin has been very active with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and she currently serves as a member of the New Practitioners Forum Public Affairs and Advocacy Advisory Group and as the ASHP Connect Resident Blogger. In her free time, Dr. Davlin enjoys attending musical theater productions, playing the oboe, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. Dr. Davlin would like to thank her family, her friends, and her mentors for all of their support and encouragement.

Jordan Hinkle, Pharm.D.

Hinkle

Dr. Hinkle hails from Raleigh, North Carolina. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2008. Jordan is in his second year of the two-year Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additionally, Jordan is on schedule to complete his course work toward a Masters of Business Administration in Medical Services Management at the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business in May 2010. His residency project involves the benchmarking of pharmacy staffing levels in pediatrics. Jordan can either be found spending his free time on the golf course or cheering on his Tar Heels. He would like to send a special thanks to his family and friends who have provided him advice and words of encouragement that have helped to get him where he is today.

 Isha John, Pharm.D.

John

Dr. Isha John is a proud Philadelphian. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the nation’s first pharmacy school. Throughout her pharmacy education, Dr. John invested her efforts in serving the needs of the indigent population. This has been demonstrated through her activism with the American Red Cross in the eradication of measles from Africa. Dr. John’s interests are in optimizing patient outcomes through improving the medication use system, antimicrobial management and ambulatory care. Isha’s first year residency project focuses on an analysis of non-formulary medication use and centralization of inventory at an academic medical center. While completing her two-year Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, she is concurrently working toward a Masters of Business Administration in Medical Services Management from the Carey School of Business. She would like to recognize her family, friends, and mentors who have provided continued guidance and support. In her spare time, Isha enjoys whitewater rafting, hiking, and painting.

Patrick McMahon, Pharm.D.

McMahon

Dr. McMahon originally hails from Wallingford, Connecticut and is a 2004 graduate from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. Dr. McMahon served as his pharmacy school class president from 2001-2004. Upon graduation, he accepted a commission as a captain in the United States Air Force. During his 4-year tour, Dr. McMahon assisted in the relief effort to victims of Hurricane Katrina, managed an anticoagulation clinic, and developed a smoking cessation clinic. He was awarded a Humanitarian Medal and Commendation Medal for his meritorious service. While completing his two-year Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, he is concurrently finishing course work toward a Masters of Business Administration in Medical Services Management from the Carey School of Business at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. McMahon's research project involves measuring response times of a nurse managed heparin pilot.
