Clinical Practice Opportunities
Interns are given the opportunity to attend Pharmacist discussions to be introduced to the various areas of Pharmacy.
Pharmacist Discussions:
Pharmacist discussions include, but are not limited to: Pharmacy Administration, Resident training, Clinical Specialists, Clinical Pharmacists, Investigational Drug Services, Research, Central Production, Satellite Operations and Drug Information.
Journal Club:
Student interns will participate in Journal Club activities. This forum will provide experiences in topic discussion and medical literature critique and review.
Educational Activities:
Pharmacotherapy Rounds and monthly Departmental Continuing Education Programs (ACPE approved) area forum in Johns Hopkins which pharmacy residents and clinical Pharmacists to formally present clinically relevant topics. The goal is to enhance the participant’s knowledge regarding the use of drug therapy and discuss its applicability to clinical practice.
Independent Project: 
Student interns, working with a preceptor, will develop and complete independent projects during their summer experience. The topic will be identified and agreed upon with a preceptor and results will be presented to the Department of Pharmacy at the conclusion of the summer internship experience.
Interns are required to present a PowerPoint presentation summarizing their project(s). Examples of projects completed in the past include:

At the discretion of the preceptor a number of meetings are available that can increase the understanding of Hospital and Health System practice.
