The Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Pharmacy Internship Program was established to provide employed pharmacy students with a structured learning experience intended to provide a comprehensive exposure to Hospital and Health System pharmacy practice. Students participating in the program may be employed ‘year-round’ (if living and attending school locally) or may be hired for the summer time frame. Approximately 12-15 year-round positions exist while ~18 students are hired as summer interns.
This experience advances the knowledge, skills and abilities of students to assure continued academic success and to advance the understanding of the role of the pharmacist in clinical pharmacy practice, research and development, education and personnel development and safe medication use in the acute and ambulatory care settings of Hospital and Health System pharmacy practice.
