The Saga of Sam

The Saga of Sam

Saturday, May 14, 1994

You are discharged.  Hematocrit is 30, lactulose is added to your medicine.  You take a spirometer home to maintain lung capacity which has diminished with the fluid build-up.  In true form, you didn't exactly go home.  You stopped by to watch Shaun's baseball game at Ridgely and then went to PACE for some needed essentials.  You're quite a trooper!  The kids at Ridgely really liked seeing you.

This week is a true break in the trauma.  Home schooling starts on Monday, May 16.  Louise Higgins is your home teacher.  She is really nice and sticks through a lot of trauma with you.  School is three days per week, two hours a day.  Shaun is ready to try home schooling, too.  He likes the hours.  You do the major subjects and even have time to make lollipops and cook.  You and Ms. Higgins intensely study the Titanic.
