Overview

Lung transplantation provides the promise of living longer, happier lives for many children with end-stage lung disease. It is an option for these children when all other medical treatments have failed. The surgery replaces your child’s diseased lungs with healthy lungs.

The Pediatric Lung Transplantation Program is an outgrowth of the successful adult transplantation program at Johns Hopkins. The first pediatric lung transplant in Maryland was performed at Johns Hopkins. The evaluation and treatment of children with advanced lung disease is performed using medical and surgical team members from the Johns Hopkins Hospital. A team of highly trained transplant specialists will care for your child.
