Patient- and Family-Centered Care Goals
Patient- and family-centered care is one of six priorities in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Strategic Plan. Each strategic priority is a critical area of focus for the success and sustainability of the institution.
As part of that plan, Johns Hopkins Medicine seeks to become the national leader in the safety, science, teaching and provision of patient- and family-centered care. A diverse, multidisciplinary coalition of faculty and staff leaders representing all member organizations identified the following goals to achieve that vision.
- Promote a culture that embraces, expects and rewards the delivery of patient- and family-centered care.
- Partner with patients, families and others to eliminate preventable harm and optimize patient outcomes and experience while reducing health care costs.
- Engage patients and families in shared organizational and clinical decision-making
