Medical Students Clinical Clerkship in General Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery

Faculty: Otolaryngology faculty

Description: This course gives students an introduction to the field of Otolaryngology. The student will learn the skills necessary to take an otolaryngologic history and perform a comprehensive head and neck examination. It provides a broad exposure to otolaryngologic pathology and will familiarize the student with outpatient and in-hospital otolaryngologic care.

Time is divided between the Head & Neck Service and the Otology/Neurotology Service. Students will participate in rounds, inpatient care, in the operating room, and the outpatient clinic. Patients will be discussed with the attending in order to arrive at an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan. The student will assist in patient workups and follow them during the hospital stay.

Availability/Duration: all year; 1 quarter or 4 weeks.
