Online Health Library Attracts Millions
Date: April 1, 2014
Hopkinsmedicine.org is the fourth most popular hospital or academic medical center website in the nation. This year, it will receive an estimated 37 million views—almost seven times the number it received in 2008.
Hopkinsmedicine.org/health, the online health library, receives about 1 million visits per month. It features an A–Z directory of health topics, including diseases, treatments, tests, procedures and links to relevant research. It also connects patients and caregivers to Johns Hopkins physicians, departments and centers that can provide treatment.
Nearly one-third of the traffic to hopkinsmedicine.org begins in the JHM Health Library. Visitors can also browse a list of free online seminars and in-person presentations led by Johns Hopkins experts on such topics as weight loss surgery and joint pain. Additionally, they can sign up for Your Health, a free monthly e-newsletter.
The website represents one authoritative, online source for health information. Created by the internet strategy team in JHM’s Department of Marketing and Communications, the website is continuously updated with guidance from experts across the institution.
