For the fourth year in a row, the Johns Hopkins Bayview Diversity Council was recognized by the Association of Diversity Councils as one of the top diversity councils in the United States. This year, the Council ranked eighth, improving its standing from 2013.

Johns Hopkins Bayview was recognized for improving clinical care, services and relationships in the Latino community—particularly through the establishment of the Johns Hopkins Center for Salud and Opportunities (Centro SOL).

Centro SOL brings together health care providers and the Latino community with the goal of improving the overall health of the Spanish-speaking population. The Center actively engages its neighbors through:

  • Clinical care programs, such as the Community Care-A-Van
  • Health promotion programs, including mental health support groups and free lectures about important health topics
  • Advocacy and outreach programs, such as partnerships with community organizations to promote Latino health
