Hopkins Medicine Magazine Fall 2011
In praise of internists
Date: October 3, 2011
I read with interest the recent article about Dr. Ross [“Medicine When I Was Young,” Spring/Summer]. He was the senior resident when I was a student, and having weekly CPC’s with Dr. Harvey. The discussion in the article about generalists versus specialists got me thinking about my own recent medical experiences.
While today we need specialists, a good old-fashioned internist, who monitors everything and makes sure the left hand isn’t messing up the right hand, might help keep things in balance.
