Mapping the Road Ahead
Date: April 1, 2013
Five years ago, the Department of Surgery gathered to develop a strategic plan for our own success.
Since then, our department has made great strides in promoting and offering patient-centered care. We’re ranked No. 10 in NIH funding and No. 2 in the amount of training grants we’ve received. We’ve also gone to great lengths to ensure that our residents are experiencing superior training and education.
With so many accomplishments under our belt, it was time again to determine where we can do even better, and so the surgery department gathered in January 2013 to develop another five-year plan.
Already, members of our executive team have been setting goals and determining which areas could improve and grow.
With the new hospital buildings completed, new resident work hours in place and the upcoming transition to Epic, we have much to consider as we plan for the next five years.
I encourage all faculty members to think and dream big, and to determine how we can do better, both for ourselves and our patients.
