As a senior communications and media relations specialist at Johns Hopkins, Ekaterina Pesheva, M.A., is responsible for publicizing clinical, translational and basic science discoveries, clinical developments and educational initiatives for the Department of Pediatrics, including more than 20 pediatric subspecialties, the Heart & Vascular Institute, Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, Surgery, Transplant, Nephrology and HIV/AIDS. Ekaterina also manages media relations for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and contributes editorial content to Johns Hopkins Medicine Magazine, Hopkins Children’s Magazine and Cardiovascular Report.
Before joining Johns Hopkins Medicine, Ekaterina was a columnist and medical reporter for the Suburban Journals and West End Word newspapers in St. Louis. Ekaterina has a master’s degree in journalism with focus on Strategic Health Communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, where she was also an assistant editor for Global Journalist magazine, a graduate research assistant and health writer. Ekaterina has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Truman State University and has studied Linguistics and English Philology in her native country, Bulgaria, before coming to the United States. Ekaterina is a recipient of the Missouri Press Association Award for News Reporting in 2003.
