Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute opens New Location in Montgomery County
Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute’s new office in Bethesda, Md., at the Air Rights Center (West Tower) is now welcoming patients.
The 8,000-square-foot, sixth-floor suite, at 7315 Wisconsin Ave., houses 11 exam rooms, a minor procedure room, a Wilmer Optical shop and expanded on-site diagnostic services with new equipment. The multispecialty practice offers treatment of thyroid eye disease, diagnostic and imaging services and refractive surgery screening.
"We are pleased to better meet the needs of our patients in the Bethesda area by offering them convenient and comprehensive outpatient care," says Peter McDonnell, M.D., William Holland Wilmer Professor of Ophthalmology and director of the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins. "Many patients young and old will now be able to have their eye problems (including both rare and common disorders) managed closer to home, avoiding the need to travel to the main Wilmer facility in downtown Baltimore."
The new practice serves as an extension of the Wilmer Eye Institute’s outpatient surgical services, and is staffed with five ophthalmologists and two optometrists, one of whom is also a pediatric specialist. Surgeries will be performed at Suburban Hospital and at the Johns Hopkins Health Care and Surgery Center located on 6420 Rockledge Dr., Suite 2100, in Bethesda.
