Giant Food Triple Winner Campaign - 04/10/2009
Giant Food Triple Winner Campaign
Giant Food Triple Winner Season Begins
Release Date: April 10, 2009
Annual scratch-off game benefitting children’s cancer research began on April 9, 2009
LANDOVER, MD – The fifth annual Triple Winner game, benefitting The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University of Medicine and the Children’s Cancer Foundation, began April 9, 2009. Giant Food has committed to raising over $1.5 million for both charities this year.
The Triple Winner game is a scratch card promotion in which every ticket can be an instant winner of either a free product, a gift card or cash prize up to $10,000. Customers have until July 9, 2009 to make a $1 donation in any Giant Food store and receive a Triple Winner game ticket. One hundred percent of donations received from Giant Food customers for the Triple Winner program will directly benefit The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University of Medicine and the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
“The support given by our loyal customers and vendors during the Triple Winner game is tremendous. On top of that, the passion our Giant Food employees express while rallying to raise funds for the cause is admirable,” said Robin Michel, executive vice president and general manager for Giant Food. “You begin to realize the incredible heart behind our community when we band together for a common cause like fighting childhood cancer. I’m truly proud to be a part of it.”
Johns Hopkins University has chosen Dustin of Fruitland, MD, Alexis of Windsor Mill, MD, Joseph of Annapolis, MD and Zoe of Bowie, MD, to be the faces of this year’s Triple Winner game. These brave children are currently receiving treatment at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at John Hopkins Division of Pediatric Oncology.
The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center has one of the most comprehensive pediatric oncology programs in the country. It is a recognized “Center of Excellence” for bone marrow transplants and includes specialized areas of expertise in brain tumors, sarcoma, leukemia and lymphoma. The Center’s pediatric oncologists, nurses and staff provide compassionate care to hundreds of children each year and the Center is consistently ranked as one of the top cancer centers in the country by US News and World Report.
Continuing their support and commitment to the program, the Baltimore Orioles are partnering with Giant Food to promote Triple Winner at home games to the hundreds of thousands of fans who visit Oriole Park at Camden Yards this summer.
For the fifth year in a row, Edy’s Grand Ice Cream will support The Triple Winner Contest. This year, on May 2, 2009, donations of $1 to Triple Winner earn customers a free EDY’S® DIBS® Bite Sized Snack Bag and a Triple Winner scratch-off ticket. Customers who donate $3 will receive a free snack bag, a limited edition Triple Winner keepsake and three Triple Winner scratch off tickets.
