Dr. Morad’s interest in neuroscience began during his years as a Howard Hughes undergraduate research scholar at Georgetown University and the National Institutes of Health. He subsequently graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and performed his residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Morad completed a multidisciplinary surgical and neurocritical care fellowship at Johns Hopkins and is currently board certified in Anesthesiology, Surgical Critical Care, and Neurocritical Care.

Dr. Morad’s research focusses on the perioperative management of pain in patients undergoing neurosurgery. He has completed two randomized controlled trials on the efficacy of patient controlled analgesia (PCA) following craniotomy. Currently, he is studying the safety of opioid administration using end-tidal CO2 monitoring in post-craniotomy patients. He is also collaborating on an investigation of Transcortical Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and its effects on postoperative pain in patients recovering from spine surgery.

As an assistant residency director in the department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Morad also has an interest in resident education. He created the departments ACGME compliant neuroanesthesia curriculum and has earned a Teacher of the Year award in recognition of his efforts in teaching and clinical mentorship.
