Dr. James Rubenstein received his medical degree from New York University. He then completed his residency in Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins and his fellowship in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities at the Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Now an Instructor in Neurology and Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Rubenstein is part of the Pediatric Epilepsy team. He is co-director of the Ketogenic Diet program, and specializes in the care of children with epilepsy and associated co-morbid conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, mental retardation, learning/school problems and behavior problems.

Dr. Rubenstein is also on the staff of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders at Kennedy Krieger Institute, where he runs the intake clinic for children with autism spectrum disorders. He has a particular interest in early identification of children with autism and the relationship between mitochondrial disorders and autism.

Dr. Rubenstein currently sees patients at the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center in Baltimore on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
