Physicians can schedule patients for cutaneous nerve/skin biopsies at Johns Hopkins without a separate new patient consultation visit. Or, physicians can perform skin punch biopsies in their office, and send the tissue samples to our lab for processing and interpretation.
Prepare for and perform a skin biopsy
- Submit patient information. Johns Hopkins Clinical Nerve Lab will obtain insurance information.
- A skin punch kit will be shipped to you.
- Perform the biopsies in your office.
- Results are available in 7-10 days (or less).
Steps after you perform a skin biopsy
To schedule a patient appointment for a cutaneous nerve/skin biopsy in our clinic, please contact our office at 410-614-6399. After the biopsy, a report will be sent to you, generally within one to two weeks.
