Olga Pletniková, MD

Olga Pletniková, MD, is a Research Associate in the Department of Pathology and Manager of the Brain Resource Center (BRC) at Johns Hopkins University, which is the tissue repository for three NIH-funded research centers at Johns Hopkins, i.e., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease.

Dr Pletniková has background in pathology, forensic pathology, and neuropathology. Currently, she is the manager for the BRC and in this capacity she is responsible for the accession and preparation of human postmortem tissues for research. She also supervises research related histology and immunocytochemical procedures.

Drawing in her experience in human neuroanatomy, she is in charge of dissecting the postmortem tissue brain samples necessary for research and distributing them to researchers and collaborators here at Hopkins and other universities. Dr Pletniková also participates actively in research studies of human and experimental neuropathology; this activity is reflected in a very active publication record.

Dr Pletniková plays a very active role in the preparation of cases for clinical pathological conferences of the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s centers, and in the teaching of graduate, postdoctoral and medical students.
