Dr. Tomas Garzon-Muvdi is a post-doctoral research fellow who joined the Brain Tumor Stem Cell laboratory in September 2008. His work focuses on the mechanisms that human brain tumor stem cells and neural stem cells use to migrate and how different factors affect this process. He is also studying migration and polarity of neural stem cells in nanopatterned substrates.

Tomas received his M.D. in June 2006 from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi School of Medicine in México. He also obtained a Master of Science in August 2008 from Wright State University with focus on Neuroscience and Biophysics. Tomas is currently funded through the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund Post-Doctoral Fellowship Grant.
