Dr. Beth Murinson received her master's degree in Biomathematics from the University of California at Los Angeles. Her M.D. and Ph.D. were awarded by the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed a residency in neurology at Yale University followed by fellowships in Clinical Neurophysiology and Peripheral Neurology at Johns Hopkins.

Now an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Murinson directs Pain Education for the department of Neurology. Her clinical expertise is in painful conditions of the peripheral nervous system including peripheral neuropathy, neuropathic pain, and stiff-person syndrome. Her expertise includes clinical neurophysiology, specifically intraoperative neuromonitoring and diagnostic evoked potentials, as well as nerve and muscle biopsies.

Dr. Murinson’s research interests include understanding the mechanisms of peripheral neuropathy, neuropathic pain and nociceptive processing by the nervous system. In addition, Dr. Murinson as been instrumental in developing a new curriculum in pain education for medical students at Johns Hopkins, working to identify and correct factors that interfere with rapid recognition and treatment of pain. Dr. Murinson has been recognized for her outstanding accomplishments as a medical educator by selection as Core Faculty in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Colleges Advisory Program.

Dr. Murinson currently sees patients at The Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center located in Baltimore on Tuesday mornings.
