Dr. Robert Stevens is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Radiology.  He received his degree in medicine from the University of Geneva and underwent clinical training at the University of Geneva and at Johns Hopkins.

His research centers on quantitative approaches to determining biological mechanisms of injury and repair within the central nervous system.  Dr. Stevens' group is using advanced brain mapping methods (magnetic resonance imaging and electrophysiological tests) to probe mechanisms of neural damage, neuropsychological dysfunction, and to track recovery of consciousness and cognitive function following acute neurologic insults.   The overarching goal is to identify treatment paradigms which will ameliorate outcomes after stroke, traumatic brain injury and cardiac arrest.  Dr. Stevens' research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Department of Defense.
