About Our Laboratory
The Johns Hopkins Neurovascular Laboratory offers comprehensive, coordinated cerebrovascular tests for patients with intracranial or extracranial vessel disorders such as brain aneurysm causing subarachnoid hemorrhage, and stroke.
These non-invasive ultrasound studies are performed by highly qualified and experienced technologists and interpreted by neurologists with special expertise in stroke and neurovascular ultrasound.

The Neurovascular Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a portable MicroMaxx ultrasound system and Transcranial Doppler (TCD) scanners. Accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL), the Neurovascular Laboratory offers a range of procedures, including:
- Transcranial Doppler
- TCD-Bubble Test, PFO Detection
- Carotid Doppler Ultrasound
