If you or a loved one is admitted to The Johns Hopkins Hospital Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NCCU), you are in good hands, with a unique class of professionals specially trained in diagnosis and management of complex and serious neurological conditions.
Patients in the Johns Hopkins NCCU benefit from a seasoned multidisciplinary group of neurologists, anesthesiologists, neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners and critical care nurses.
Together, we create and implement individualized treatment plans for such conditions as:
- Acute ischemic stroke
- Intracranial or subarachnoid hemorrhage
- Cerebral aneurysm
- Cerebrovascular malformations
- Brain tumors
- Traumatic brain injury
- Acute spine injury
- Seizures (prolonged or continuous)
- Severe or deteriorating demyelinating illness
- Spinal infection
- Guillian-Barré Syndrome
- Neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis)
- Autonomic instability
- Recent major neurosurgical procedures for carotid artery surgery, neuro-endovascular procedures or head and neck pathology
