Who We Are

The Johns Hopkins Headache Center at The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of health care specialists who are committed to providing comprehensive, individualized care to patients with headaches or facial pain disorders. Our team of experts includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists (ENT), obstetrician / gynecologists, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, and physical therapists. We collaborate to diagnose and provide effective pain management for all types of headaches, that range from mild and nagging to severe and debilitating. We treat primary headaches such as migraines that have no obvious cause, as well as those that are caused by serious underlying medical conditions that may require prompt diagnosis and treatment.

As a patient at the Johns Hopkins Headache Center, you will receive timely referrals for testing, expert opinions, and procedures. Each patient experiences their headache syndrome differently, depending on age, gender, stress levels, job demands, pain tolerance, and other medical conditions. Your provider will develop, explain, and help you follow an individually tailored treatment plan designed to provide the most effective management of your symptoms with minimal side effects. Our goal is to empower you to take control over your disorder, rather than having it control you.

The Johns Hopkins Headache Center is conveniently located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center campus, which also houses a dedicated neurology unit for selected patients who require inpatient hospitalization for their headaches. If necessary, the Headache Center will serve as your gateway to other specialists throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine. Our clinic coordinator will ensure that referrals go smoothly.

Although most headaches are not life threatening, and cannot be identified from a brain scan or blood test, we take them very seriously. We recognize that headaches may cause substantial discomfort, and may severely affect an individuals ability to perform at work, at school, enjoy family and social events, or even carry on normal daily activities. Our main goal at the Johns Hopkins Headache Center is to improve the quality of life of our patients by effectively diagnosing and managing their pain.
