Michael Gordon Millin, M.D., M.P.H.

Michael Millin, M.D., M.P.H., FACEP, joined the faculty in 2004 after completing a two-year fellowship in emergency medical services and his M.P.H. in health management and policy. Dr. Millin is the medical director for the BWI airport fire and rescue department and the Johns Hopkins critical care transport program, Lifeline. In addition, he serves on the state emergency medical services protocol committee with the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems.

Nationally, Dr. Millin is the vice chair of the resuscitation subcouncil for the American Red Cross scientific advisory council. He is also a past chair of the standards and clinical practice committee and the immediate past chair of the wilderness emergency medical services committee with the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP). Dr. Millin also serves as a medical officer with the New Jersey-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team.

Dr. Millin got his start in medicine working as a professional ski patroller in Utah, where he was trained as an avalanche rescue technician. He has since served as the immediate past medical director for the National Ski Patrol and is a contributing medical editor of the fifth edition of its textbook, Outdoor Emergency Care. Development of wilderness emergency medical services is a passion for Dr. Millin, and he is the principal co-director of the national Wilderness EMS Medical Director Course, which is jointly sponsored by NAEMSP and the Wilderness Medical Society. Locally, Dr. Millin is the medical director for Maryland Search and Rescue. In his free time, Dr. Millin enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, and enjoying outdoor activities, especially skiing, hiking and canoeing.
