The recruitment of students from underrepresented minority groups is a top priority of the MD-PhD Program. Of the 110 current MD-PhD trainees, 24 (22%) are from minority groups. The excellence and dedication of Hopkins minority students goes beyond their prowess and skill in the lab. In fact, many Hopkins MD-PhD students are instrumental in advocating for underrepresented minority students at Johns Hopkins. Many minority students at Hopkins are involved in community service projects, and several MD-PhD students hold national positions in the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). Other Hopkins minority students are equally active in the SNMA and are committed to making Johns Hopkins a positive and productive environment for underrepresented minority students.
