Medical Scientist Training/MD-PhD Program

Directors’ Message

Dr. Siliciano and Dr. CoxWelcome! The most enjoyable part of our job as Program Director is working with enthusiastic young students over the course of their six to eight years of training in the combined degree program here at Hopkins. Our job is made easier by the outstanding caliber of students who come to Hopkins and the superb clinical and basic science faculty who teach them. Our goal, and the goal of our colleagues on the MD-PhD Committee, is to support the educational needs and career development of the students to the best of our ability.

We believe that the MD-PhD Program at Johns Hopkins provides unrivaled opportunities for training in medical research. Students will be taught, challenged, and inspired by leaders in research and clinical medicine. Many national and international leaders in medical science have spent their formative years at Hopkins. While the practice of medicine has changed dramatically over the years, our quest for ongoing innovation, productivity, and discovery has remained constant.

Please feel free to contact us directly (email:; phone 410-955-2958 or email:; phone 410-502-2715) if you have any questions about our MD-PhD Program.
