Lectures by faculty will:

  • Describe and explain the experimental design for an experiment, preferably one using animals.
  • Discuss how the experiment progressed – was it necessary to change the design, and if so, why?
  • Discuss how that experiment became part of a publication:
  • Where did the experiment fit into the overall publication?
  • Who wrote the manuscript, who reviewed it internally before sending it out and why?
  • How did you select the journal to send it to?
  • How were co-authors selected? How was the decision made regarding where to submit the manuscript?
  • How did the paper’s review process go? How long did it take?
  • Were revisions necessary? If so, how did that go?
  • Faculty are encouraged to discuss studies that entailed difficult decisions/conundrums.
